I was actually nominated in the same category that Taylor won and I was excited for her…so why can’t you be?? Beyonce rectifies wrongs from Kanye West's outburst during Taylor Swift award speech

Upon winning the most sought-after award of the evening, Beyonce topped the evening's unexpected events with a generous gesture to another, younger artist.

While taking the stage to accept her award for Video of the Year, the hip-hop diva called Taylor Swift onto the stage for her moment in the spotlight.

"I remember how excited I was," Beyonce said, recalling her first VMA with Destiny's Child. "I'd like Taylor to come out and have her moment."
Swift bested Beyonce in the Best Female Video category, but the 19-year-old was unable to give her speech. Kanye West jumped on stage, grabbed the microphone and insisted Beyonce should have won instead.

Taylor Swift talked to Us about Kanye West tearing away her microphone and ruining her Best Female Video acceptance speech to say that Beyonce deserved to win:'Well, I was standing on stage because I was really excited because I had just won the award. And then I was really excited because Kanye West was on stage. And then I wasn't so excited anymore after that.

I've been getting so many text messages and everybody's been really nice. So I've had a really, really fun night. It's been interesting definitely. It's definitely been an interesting night.. Taylor said she was once a fan of Kanye, 'I don't know him, and I've never met him, so... I don't want to start anything because I had a great night tonight.'

On Beyonce inviting her on stage: 'They told me to stand by the side of the stage, and I didn't really know what was going to go down. But I thought it was so wonderful and gracious of her to do what she's always done. She's always been a great person before anything else. Before the talented artist, the superstar, she's always been a great person and I just, I thought I couldn't love Beyonce more tonight, than tonight.'


Kanye apologizes, Beyonce gives Taylor Swift “her moment”

Kanye West had a bit of a change of heart after interrupting Taylor Swift’s speech at the VMAs and being booted from the venue.

West all caps’d over to his blog to tap out a heartfelt apology to Ms. Swift, whose award acceptance he interrupted to protest her win over Beyonce’s Single Ladies. Kanye shouted said:

Kanye West Calls Taylor Swift To Apologize For VMA Incident

Singer had said on 'The View' that she hadn't heard from him.


After three public apologies, Kanye West has personally apologized to Taylor Swift for disrupting her VMA win on Sunday Night. MTV News confirmed that Swift has accepted West's apology, which was made on Tuesday (September 15).

On "The View" earlier on Tuesday, Swift said West had yet to contact her personally to apologize, even though he blogged two apologies and made an additional one on Monday night during his appearance on "The Jay Leno Show." Apparently quite soon after her appearance, West called the VMA winner to apologize — and according to her reps, she has accepted his apology.


While on "The View," the 19-year-old said that if West wanted to meet to talk about the incident she would be open to the idea, which he mentioned during his "Leno" appearance. "I mean, he has not personally reached out to me or anything," she revealed. "But if he wanted to say 'Hi,' [sure]."

West had said that he was "rude" for interrupting her acceptance speech for Best Female Video. "It was just very rude, period," West said to Leno. "I'd like to apologize to her in person."

On Sunday night, Swift spoke to MTV News about what went through her mind when West took the mic out of her hands to proclaim his preference for Beyoncé's "Single Ladies" video.

"Well, you know, I was up there and I was standing there and I saw Kanye up on the stage," she explained. "I was really excited ... and I kind of wasn't excited anymore."
